Step into history in our magnificent wood-panelled dining room, where centuries-old craftsmanship frames every celebration. The long oak table seats sixteen with room to spare, perfect for family gatherings and group celebrations that stretch long into the evening.

The room's crowning glory is an exquisite medieval carving, salvaged from the fire at nearby Clearwell Castle and lovingly restored. As candlelight flickers across the dark wood panels and conversation flows, you'll understand why families return to this historic holiday home year after year to mark their most important milestones.

There is a fireplace with a working open log fire. We provide all the logs and candles you will need.

The evening lounge has two enormous sofas in front of an open log fire and an ornate cupboard full of children's toys and board games. The French windows open out onto the hot tub and fire pit area, with steps up onto the enclosed rear lawn. There are stone walls on three sides and gates on either end so you do not need to worry about children or dogs escaping. Please keep the gates closed so the deer don't wander in and eat the flowers.

Two generous sitting rooms give you space to spread out during your countryside retreat. The morning lounge features our baby grand piano, which apparently started life many years ago on a ship (you're welcome to play it). There is a very warm log burner, a sofa and several armchairs. We have just about managed to fit the whole village in here for Christmas carols.

Our large farmhouse kitchen is where mornings begin and evenings often end. The traditional Aga radiates warmth, the huge stone hearth tells stories of centuries past, and there's ample room for everyone to gather around the kitchen table with coffee and conversation.

Each of our eight bedrooms in this luxury accommodation has its own distinct personality, dressed in bold wallpapers and furnished with pieces that tell their own stories. You won't find corporate blandness here — instead, discover rooms with character, warmth, and genuine charm.

From the romantic four-poster draped in vintage linens to the bright, garden-facing rooms perfect for early risers, every bedroom is a sanctuary. The beds are exceptionally comfortable (guests tell us they're the hardest part about leaving), dressed in high-quality bedding that makes lazy Sunday mornings irresistible.

Our extensive grounds are as much a part of this luxury rural escape as the house itself. Sprawling lawns give way to hidden corners perfect for morning coffee or evening aperitifs, while ancient trees provide dappled shade on summer afternoons.

The wood-fired hot tub is legendary among our guests. There's something magical about sinking into warm bubbles under a canopy of stars, glass of wine in hand, with nothing but the sounds of the Forest of Dean around you. Seats ten, so the whole group can gather — and many of our best guest memories are made right here.
